Two Types, One Market
Fusible bus plugs use a switch and fuse clips; breaker plugs mount a molded case breaker in the box. Both exist because plants need to tap power off overhead busway at machine level, and both sell briskly in the used market — the installed base determines demand, not the technology.
Where Fusible Wins
Legacy systems — Bulldog Vacu-Break, Frank Adam, older ITE — are overwhelmingly fusible, and plants running them will pay strong money for clean plugs in the right amperage because no factory alternative exists. A complete fusible plug with clips and handle intact is a genuine asset.
Where Breaker Plugs Win
Modern systems like Square D I-Line busway plugs and GE Spectra units carry premium value in higher amperages — 225A, 400A, 600A — where new-from-factory pricing is steep and lead times are long. Contractors doing tenant fit-outs buy these constantly.
